Baked Pears with Walnuts and Gorgonzola

2 large ripe pears (Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou)
2 tablespoons butter, softened or butter spray
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup walnut pieces, chopped and toasted
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted or butter spray
1/3 cup crumbed Gorgonzola cheese
Recipe
Toast walnuts in fry pan and set aside.
Peel pears, if desired. Cut in half and core. Bake in a buttered baking dish at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Turn pears over and sprinkle with salt, white pepper and nutmeg. Bake 10-15 minutes longer or until soft and lightly browned.
Meanwhile, combine walnuts, brown sugar and melted butter in a small bowl, stirring to coat nuts. Top pear halves with walnut mixture and cheese. Broil pears until cheese melts.
