BBQ Smoked Wings

List of Ingredients
1 tablespoon dry sweet rub for meats
1 1/4 pounds chicken drumettes (about 12 pieces)
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/4 cup Trailhead Wing Sauce (see recipe)
Recipe
Sprinkle seasoning rub onto drumettes. Smoke, preferably over hickory, until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
Deep-fry or pan-fry the smoked drumettes until the outside is crispy; drain well on paper towels. Place drumettes in a plastic bowl with a tight-fitting lid; add Wing Sauce, cover and shake until pieces are coated. Serve immediately.
Trailhead Wing Sauce
Yield: about 2/3 cup.
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1/4 cup Trailhead Barbecue Sauce (see note)
1/2 cup hot pepper sauce (Trailhead uses Frank's "Hotter" Red Hot)
1 tablespoon ground red (cayenne) pepper
3/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
Melt butter; gradually mix in barbecue sauce, hot sauce, ground peppers, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir to blend well.
Note: Trailhead Brewery makes its barbecue sauce by blending 1 part honey with 4 parts barbecue sauce
