    New Orleans French Toast

    Betty Crocker's Old Fashioned Cookbook page 121

    List of Ingredients


    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel or drops of orange oil
    • 3 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
    • 8 slices stale bread ( or any really)


    Instructions


    1. Whisk all ingredients except butter and bread . Heat 1 tablespoon butter in 10inch skillet until melted.


    2. Dip several slices into egg mixture(stirring frequently).
      Cook about 2min. on each side or until golden brown.


    3. Repeat with remaining bread slices adding butter as
      needed .



    4. Serve with syrup .
