Recipe Introduction
Sent this recipe through the mail to my brother and oldest sister in 1980. It traveled well. I usually add more vanilla and sometimes cut down on the salt.

- 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
- 1/4 t. baking soda

- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 t.. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

- Middle Layer: Combine white sugar, 1/4 c. butter and chocolate. Add egg. Beat well. Stir together 2/3 c. flour, baking powder, 1/4 t. salt. Add to chocoate mix alternately with milk mixed with vanilla. Fold in nuts. Spread over baked bottom layer. Continue baking for 25 minutes, at 350. Cool.
