    Make a batch of this wonderful sauce ahead of timefor the best blending of flavours. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze it for longer storage. You can adjust the herbs and spices to suit your own taste without affecting the sodium level.

    List of Ingredients




    1 6-ounce cans of no-salt-added tomato paste
    2 cups of water
    1/4 cup finely chopped onion
    2 medium garlic , minced or 1 tsp bottled minced garlic
    1 tsp basil
    1 tsp oregano
    1/2 tsp thyme
    1/4 tsp baking soda
    1/8 pepper
    1/8 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)

    Recipe



    Put tomato paste in a medium saucepan. Whisk in water, 1 cup at a time. Whisk in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes or until flavours are blended, stirring occasionally.

    Serves 6 - 1/2 cup per serving POINTS = 0
