Recipe Introduction
This is Frosting like my Mom use to make. It is tricky, once you have it made you cannot waste time spreading it onto the cake as it will harden slightly. It actually taste like fudge on a cake. Don't worry if it does not go onto your cake beautiful, I can promise the taste will be worth it. We usually had a white or yellow cake with this icing.
List of Ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 TB corn syrup
2/3 cup evaporated milk
3 squares (3 oz each) unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla
Recipe
In large sauce pan, over medium heat add all but vanilla and butter. Cook to 232 on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add butter without stirring. Let cool until lukewarm. Add vanilla and beat until creamy and just begins to hold shape. Spread quickly onto cake.
