    Spicey Texas Chicken Fried Steak

    i've tried various recipes for chiken fried steaks but this is the best on yet.along with some country white gravy you'll know your in Texas.ENJOY!


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 pds round steak sliced 1/2 "thick twice tenderized by the buther
    • 2 cups all pourpose flour
    • 2 teaspoonbaking powder
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 3/4 teaspoon salt
    • 11/2 cups buttermilk
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon tabasco sauce
    • 2 clove's garlic minced
    • veg shortening preferably crisco


    Instructions


    1. Cut the steak into four equal portions. Pound the portions until each is about 1/4 inch thick.
    2. Place the flourin a shallow bowl.In a second dish stir together the baking powder and baking soda,pepper and salt.Mix in buttermild,tabasco ans garlic.
    3. The mixture will be thin, dredge each steak firstin flour and then in the batter. Dunk the steaks back int flourand dredge well,patting in the flour until the surface of the meat is dry.
    4. Add enough shortening to the dry cast iron skillet or dutch oven to deep-fry the steaks in at least 4 inches of fat.Bring the temp.of the shortening to 325 degree's.f.
    5. Fry the steaks,pushing them down under the fat or turning them over as they bob to the surface for 7 to 8 minutes ot until the are golden brown.Drain the steaks and keep them warm while you make gravy.



    Final Comments


    Caution: This is not a healthy recipe eat with caution,good with country white gravy,made from scratch mashed potatoes and spice corn on the cob.Enjoy!
