Hello all of you cyberspace recipeaholics! My name is Adele Forbes
and I live at the base of Grandfather Mountain in Linville, NC. I
worked as a personal chef for 15 years in the area resorts before
becoming a full-time herbalist. I also wrote a recipe column "Cooking
With Adele" for many years for our local paper but now write an herb
column (culinary and medicinal). I have written a cookbook in memory
of my grandmother who raised me with all of my best recipes and the
most requested recipes out of the cooking column. Needless to say, I
love food and cooking and mostly watching the people eat who I have
cooked for. Also, needless to say, I have more recipes than Betty
Crocker. Here is one of my most requested recipes. Every time I fix
it and take it somewhere everyone has to have the recipe.
List of Ingredients
Mississippi Sin
2 cups (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
1 8z pkg cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup chopped cooked ham or shrimp (I used
canned crab)
1/3 cup chopped green chillies
1/3 cup chopped green onions, including tops
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 (1 lb) loaf round Hawaiian bread (could probably
use any round bread)
Combine all ingredients except bread, of course, mixing well. Cut a
thin slice from top of bread, set aside. Using a gentle sawing
motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of loaf, 1/2 inch
from edge. Lift out center of loaf, cut into 1 inch cubes and set
aside. Fill hollowed loaf with dip, cover with reserved top slice of
bread. Wrap in aluminum foil. Bake in preheated 350 deg oven for 1
hour. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers or chips. This is
truly a delicious recipe which is a lot of fun to serve to large
groups of people.
Note: you can mix up the dip ahead of time and freeze.
Defrost before putting into bread.Recipe
