    grilled - Herb Barbequed Ribs*

    3 pounds spareribs
    8 ounces tomato sauce
    1 cup chopped onion
    1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup water
    3 Tablespoons ketchup
    1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
    1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary -- crushed
    1/2 teaspoon dried basil -- crushed
    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

    Cut ribs into serving size pieces.
    Place in a large shallow dish.
    Combine remaining ingredients, mixing well.
    Pour over ribs; cover and marinate in refrigerator
    for at least 2 hours.
    Drain, reserving marinade.

    Grill ribs over medium/hot coals for 30 minutes.
    Turn frequently.
    Grill an additional 15 to 30 minutes, turning and
    basting frequently with reserved marinade.
    Place on serving platter, and serve immediately.
    Makes 3 to 4 servings.
