    brisket - Never Fail Beef Brisket

    beef brisket
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    thinly sliced carrots
    thinly sliced celery
    1 can beef consomme
    1 c. dry red wine
    (or can use more consomme)
    2 - 3 tbsp. dry onion soup mix
    sprinkling of parsley
    fresh sliced mushrooms, optional
    fresh parsley, optional

    Preheat oven to 450. Bake brisket for 20 minutes.
    Remove from oven. Reset oven to 300.
    Sprinkle garlic powder on meat, then add the carrots and celery
    onto meat. Add consomme, wine, dry soup, and parsley. Cover
    and cook 3 to 4 hours.

    Serve from oven – or - remove and chill meat about 1/2 hour,
    save broth. Slice meat and place fresh sliced mushrooms and
    fresh parsley on meat in baking dish. Make gravy from broth
    that was saved and pour heated gravy over meat and place in
    350 oven for 20 minutes.

    A nice thing about this recipe is that the first baking can be done
    in the morning and the last baking before you are ready to
    serve dinner.
    Also leftovers make hot beef sandwiches like you used to get
    in restaurants and not out of a box!!!
