I made this a while back for one of the 3/17's. I took a
nice big bowl of it over to my next door neighbor. She
said it tasted good and I thought it was pretty darn good
myself so here it is...not too spicy either, but then I
added ground black pepper on top of my servingS!
cornedBeef - Beef + Cabbage Dinner, boiled
pinch ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried parsely flakes
1 1/2 pounds new red potatoes, washed
...and any eyes cut out, no need to peel
10 baby carrots
water
2, 12 ounce cans cooked corned beef
...(may use fresh, just cut into chunks)
1 medium chopped onion
1 medium head cabbage,
...cut into at least 8 wedges
Mix cloves, pepper, mustard, garlic and parsley together
in a small bowl. Set aside.
Place potatoes and carrots in bottom of stockpot.
Pour in about 1 inch or a little less of water.
Sprinkle with spices.
Place corned beef on top.
Sprinkle with onion.
Lay cabbage wedges on top.
Cook and stir to break meat up, until potatoes and carrots
are tender, or until corned beef meat is tender.
Makes 8 - 12 servings.
