ground - Beef + Potato Pie, w/Turnips
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
carrots, diced (or you can use a can)
1 turnip, diced
salt and pepper
beef bouillon cube
1 pound potatoes, peeled and diced
1 pie pan
2 crusts/shells/pastries
Brown meat.
Add onion, carrots, turnip, beef cube, salt
and pepper and mix.
Cook together until done. Drain...may use
any extra liquid for another use.
In another pan, cook potatoes until tender.
When done, drain.
Mash them with butter. Add a little milk.
Place a layer of the potatoes on the bottom
of the pie pan.
Then a layer of the meat mixture.
Finsh with layers of meat and then potatoes.
Top with pastry. Crimp/seal edges.
Cut a couple of slits in the top.
Bake at 350 degrees F. until the crust is brown.
You can make this any size just by adding more.
Make dumpling using the leftover meat juice.
Also you can cook just carrots and turnips together
then mash them makes a good side dish change.
