    This is an easy, elegant version of the old stand by, meat loaf.
    ground - MeatLoaf #_18, Wellington

    1 jar beef/mushroom gravy
    1 1/2 pounds ground beef chuck
    1 cup bread crumbs
    1/4 cup finely chopped onion
    salt and pepper to taste
    5 refrigerated crescent rolls
    1 egg, slightly beaten

    Mix 1/4 cup of the gravy with the ground meat,
    bread crumbs, egg, onion, salt and pepper.
    Shape firmly into 7 x 3 inch loaf.
    Place in shallow baking pan.
    Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
    Separate the crescent rolls.
    Place the rolls crosswise over top and down the
    sides of the loaf, overlapping slightly.
    Bake 15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
    Serve with remaining, heated gravy.
    Makes 4 servings.
