Boiled Raisin Bread

This bread is very moist.
List of Ingredients
for the bread:
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. cold water
1 c. granulated white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
3 tsp. boiling water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. melted butter
for the icing/glaze:
1 c. powdered confectioners sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 to 1/3 c. milkRecipe
Heat oven to 325. Grease a 9x5" loaf pan and set aside.
for the bread:
In 3 quart saucepan, boil raisins slowly with the 1 1/2 c. water until there approximately 1 c. of water left and the raisins are plump.
Stir in sugar and egg. Allow mixture to cool.
Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves with the 3 tsp. boiling water and add to raisin mixture.
Stir together the flour, baking soda, and vanilla. Then add to the raisin mixture and stir.
Last add the melted butter and blend well.
Pour into pan and bake for 40 - 50 minutes.
for the icing/glaze:
Mix the confectioners sugar, ground cinnamon, and
milk together to desired consistency.
(If you want to drizzle the loaf, heat for about 30 seconds or so in the microwave, or until you can drizzle.)
Spread or drizzle on top of cooled bread.
Makes 12 servings.
