    Fry Bread

    Fry Bread

    4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tbsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 c. warm water

    Combine the flour, salt and baking powder together.
    Add the water and knead until soft but not sticky.
    Shape the dough into balls about the size of a small peach.
    Then flatten to 1/2" thick.
    Make a hole in center of the dough.
    Melt shortening to 1" in a heavy frying pan.
    Fry only one layer at a time until brown. (do not overlap)
    Brown the other side.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Serve hot with honey or jam.
