scratch - Glazed Tollhouse Cake
for the cake:
2 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. softened butter, (2 sticks)
1 c. packed brown sugar
2/3 c. white granulated sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
...(3/4 of a 12oz. bag)
for the glaze:
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
...(rest of the 12oz. bag)
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9 or 10" bundt pan.
for the cake:
Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
Beat the butter, sugars, and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy.
Beat in the eggs.
Gradually beat in the flour mixture until just blended.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Spoon into the pan.
Bake for 40 - 45 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 20 minutes.
Then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
for the glaze:
Microwave the chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter in a medium microwave safe bowl on HIGH for 30 seconds.
Stir until smooth. Microwave a few more seconds, if necessary, to complete melting.
Pour the glaze over the cake.
Makes 12 servings.
