batter:
4 Tablespoons buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup butter, (2 sticks)
1 cup blackberry jam
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
4 eggs
frosting:
6 tablespoons cream
6 tablespoons butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease well and flour
cake pan(s).
batter:
Dissolve baking soda in the buttermilk.
Mix the buttermilk mixture, sugar, butter, jam, flour,
cinnamon and allspice together.
Add the eggs, one at a time and mix well.
Pour batter into cake pans and bake for 45 minutes
or until tester comes out clean.
frosting:
Cook until it forms soft ball in cold water. Beat until
thick. Then frost cake.
