scratch - Strawberry Jam Cupcakes
1 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sour milk
1 cup strawberry jam
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease muffin tins for 20 or use paper liners.
Cream sugar with shortening until fluffy.
Add eggs and blend.
Sift flour, salt, and spices together and add alternately
with milk to creamed mixture.
Fold in jam.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove from pans and ice with favorite frosting.
Makes 20 cupcakes.
