These are like Nabisco's Brown Edged Wafers that were discontinued in August 1996

    List of Ingredients

    Brown Edge Wafers #1

1 cup butter or margarine (may use half of each if desired)
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    Dash of salt
    1 teaspoons vanilla
    2 cups flour

Cream butter and sugar and add eggs, one at a time. Mix well. Stir in
salt and vanilla. Gradually add the flour, mixing well. Drop by
teaspoon on greased baking sheet. The wafers may be sprinkled with
sugar or chopped nuts. Bake at 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees F or
    until edges turn brown.

    Brown Edge Cookies #3

    1 cup shortening
    1 cup granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    2-1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla or 1 teaspoon lemon extract
    1 teaspoon salt

Mix as for cake. Roll into small balls. Place on cookie sheet. Press
down with glass that has a flat bottom. Moisten the glass bottom a bit
and then dip in granulated sugar and flatten the small balls. Watch
them for they do get too brown quickly. Bake at 350 degrees. Remove
    carefully from pan to cool.
