    bar - Canadian Buttertart Cookies

    List of Ingredients


    1 cup + 2 tablespoons flour, separated
    2 tablespoons powdered confectioners sugar
    2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
    1/2 cup room temperature butter, (1 stick)
    2 tablespoons melted butter
    2 eggs
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 level teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    2 tablespoons white/clear corn syrup
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
    2/3 cup raisins, optional

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350. Need a 9" square pan.
    Combine the 1 c. flour, confectioners and white sugar.
    Cut in butter.
    Press into bottom of pan. Bake for 10 minutes and remove from oven.
    Combine the 2 tbsp. melted butter, eggs, brown sugar, the 2 tbsp. flour, baking powder, vanilla, corn syrup, and salt until syrupy.
    Add nuts and raisins and pour over baked base.
    Bake for 20 - 25 minutes, until just about firm.
    Cool and cut into squares.
