her comments:
Rich nutty, chocolatey, chewy cookies that look like reindeer
hooves. You may use regular sweetened condensed milk if
you like, but they won't be as dark and chocolatey. Cooking
time is per batch in the oven at a time.
another cook's comments:
Okay, they don't look like hooves, but who cares, they're great!
I didn't have any chocolate-flavored sweetened condensed milk,
and really wanted the chocolate flavor Heather promised, so I
mixed a tablespoon of very intense chocolate milk powder into
the milk. These are perfect washed down with a frosty glass of
milk, which my daughter did. I don't drink milk, and believe a
superb vintage of Diet Coke did the trick just fine.
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 can sweetened condensed chocolate milk (14 oz. size)
...or regular flavor sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chip (6 oz.)
1 cup peanut butter chips (6 oz.)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped pecans
5 dozen pecan halves
Combine butter, milk, and both flavors of chips in a saucepan and, stirring
constantly, heat until metled together.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla, flour, and chopped nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungresed cookie sheets.
Press a pecan half into each one.
Bake in a preheated 350 F oven 5 minutes (DO NOT OVERBAKE).
Remove to wire racks to cool.
Makes 5 dozen cookies.
