I got this many, many years ago in a newspaper
roll - Fruit Tart Cookies**
2 1/4 cups butter
1 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
2 beaten egg yolks
4 1/2 cups sifted flour
a variety of your favorite jams or preserves,
...(jellies will cook over very easily
...so it is best to use these)
Knead ingredients together well and chill.
Preheat oven to 350. Use ungreased baking sheets.
Roll tiny balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.
Make an impression in the ball with your thumb.
Fill impression with jam/preserves.
Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or just until the bottoms start to turn golden.
When cooled, if you desire, you may roll them in white granulated sugar
or powdered confectioners sugar. I did not do this as they disappeared
quite fast without it!
