green tomatoes
dill seed
garlic cloves
hot dried red pepper (optional)
alum
vinegar
salt
water
Recipe
Fill pint jars with green tomatoes. Small ones are best,
but larger ones can be cut into quarters or halves,
depending on their size.
In the top of each jar add:
1/2 tsp. dill seed
1 clove garlic
1/4 tsp. red pepper
1 pinch alum.
Mix together and then pour over tomatoes:
2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. salt
1 c. water
Seal and let stand for 2 weeks before using.
Makes 4 - 6 jars.
