    fresh - Chicken + Dumplings #2

    1/2 to 1 whole chicken
    water, or chicken broth
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. dried parsley flakes
    1 1/2 tsp. onion powder
    1 chunk of pizza dough purchased at your local pizza parlor, cut into 3/4 - 1" balls

    (PIZZA dough comes closest to homemade dumplings dough. Store the pizza dough in the refrigerator. You will use it WITHOUT letting it rise.)

    Put the chicken into a large pot.

    Add water to cover the chicken about half way or less.

    Mix together the garlic powder, pepper, salt, parsley flakes and onion powder.

    Then sprinkle the chicken with the mixture.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and slowly simmer until the chicken falls apart.

    This will also reduce the amount of the liquid.

    Remove the chicken to a warming bowl.

    Turn the heat to medium, add a little bit or salt and drop the cold dough balls into the broth.

    Cook for approximately 30 minutes, do not over cook.

    Meanwhile, debone the chicken.

    Add the chicken back into the pot, stir and serve.
