4 chicken legs
3 slices (rashers) of bacon
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
4 Tbsp. flour
1 Tbsp. caraway seeds, crushed
1 pound sauerkraut
Heat a large frying pan or casserole dish on medium.
Slice the bacon fine. Put the bacon in the pan and
fry until almost crisp. Add the chopped onion and fry,
stirring occasionally, until almost done. Add the
chicken legs and fry until golden brown on both sides.
Sprinkle on the flour and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes.
Pour in the chicken broth and cook, stirring well, for
a few minutes. Add the sauerkraut and crushed
caraway seeds. Season with salt and freshly ground
black pepper. Bring to a low boil, cover, and simmer
until done, about 45 minutes.
Serve with potatoes or dumplings.
Makes 4 servings.
