Zesty Beef Crescents
1 pound lean ground beef
1 finely chopped onion
1/4 c. hot sauce
1 15oz. can refried beans
1 15oz. can stewed tomatoes
1 15oz. can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 15oz. can tomato sauce
1 7oz. can tomato paste
2 8count pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls
1 8oz. pkg. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 16oz. container sour cream
chopped chives, optional
shredded lettuce, optional
chopped tomatoes, optional
salsa, optional
sliced olives, optional
Preheat oven to 450.
Brown meat with chopped onion in a large saucepan. Drain off excess fat.
Combine meat with hot sauce, refried beans, stewed tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce and tomato paste.
Mix well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes.
Separate one package of the crescent rolls and place on a large baking sheet.
Place 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture in the middle of each one.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Separate the other package of crescent rolls. Place on top of each topped crescent.
Trying to keep the meat mixture inside the dough, seal the edges together with a fork.
Bake in a preheated oven for 8 - 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Top with sour cream any of the optional ingredients listed, if desired.
Makes 8 servings.
