    crockpot - Smothered Steak w/Black Beans #1

    1, 10 ounce can diced tomatoes with green chiles*
    1, 10 3/4 ounce can condensed cream of celery soup
    1, 10 ounce can black beans, drained
    1 large chopped onion
    1 chopped green bell pepper
    1/4 teaspoon cumin
    1/4 teaspoon chili powder
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 1/2 - 2 pounds stewing beef

    You will need a 3 1/2 quart or larger crockpot/slow cooker.
    Combine all ingredients in the crockpot.
    Mix well. Cover.
    Cook for 8 - 10 hours on low heat, or 4 - 5 hours on high.
    Serve over hot rice or noodles or with mashed potatoes.
    Makes 4 - 6 servings.


    *Note:
    You may substitute 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 cups of chunky salsa,
    or
    a 14 ounce can of diced tomatoes
    And a 4 ounce can of diced green chiles.

    **Note:
    This makes quite a bit of juice, so you may want to double
    the meat and freeze 1/2 of the finished recipe for a
    future meal.
