crockpot - Stuffing #3, (mushroom/apple)
1/4 cup butter
2 cups chopped celery
2 cups chopped onions
1 medium tart apple,peeled and chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2, 8 ounce cans mushrooms, drained, optional
2 1/2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
12 cups stale bread, cut into cubes
2 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
Melt butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat.
Saute celery, onions, apple, parsley and mushrooms until
onions are translucent.
Add the spices.
Use a large bowl to combine bread cubes and vegetables.
Toss together to mix well.
Add eggs and broth to moisten.
Lightly pack into crockpot/slow cooker.
Cover and cook on high for 45 mins.
Reduce to low and cook for 3 to 4 hours.
