For old-fashioned harvest flavor, nothing beats warm, tender baked apple slices over ice cream. This recipe gives a new twist to traditional baked apples--the slices are also excellent served over waffles or with ham. Make sure to save room for dessert when this is the featured finale!
3 large sliced baking apples
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 cup apple cider
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup raisins or walnuts
vanilla ice cream
Recipe
Place the apples in a greased 1 quart baking dish.
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and apple
cider together and pour over the apples.
Dot with butter.
Sprinkle with raisins.
Bake at 350 degrees F., uncovered, for 45 - 60 minutes or
until the apples are tender.
Serve warm over ice cream.
Makes 4 servings.
