    SpreadTopping - Sweet + Sour Sauce

    Recipe Introduction

    Brush over chicken, pork or vegetables or use as a dip with egg rolls, chicken fingers or ribs. The recipe may be doubled.

    List of Ingredients

    1/4 c. minced carrot
    1/4 c. minced green bell pepper
    1 tsp. dried minced garlic or 1 large clove, minced
    1/2 c. low sodium chicken broth
    3 tbsp. white vinegar
    1 tsp. low sodium soy sauce
    1 tbsp. cornstarch
    2 tbsp. COLD water
    2 tbsp. Splenda or Sweet N Low sugar substitute, or to taste

    Recipe

    Spray a small nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat over a medium/high heat.
    Add the carrot, green pepper and garlic and saute, for about 3 minutes, or until the vegetables begin to brown slightly.
    Stir in the broth, vinegar and soy sauce. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute.
    Mix the cornstarch with the cold water until smooth.
    Add the cornstarch mixture to the broth and cook, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
    Stir in the sugar substitute.
    Makes 3/4 cup or 6 servings.
