Toast with Stewed Apples

List of Ingredients
2 large peeled, thinly sliced cooking apples
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons + 2 tablespoons butter, separated
4, 1 inch thick slices French breadRecipe
Combine the apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and
1/2 of the butter together in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil. Cover.
Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the apple
slices are tender.
Melt the other 1/2 of the butter in a frying pan.
Cook the bread slices on both sides, until browned.
Serve the bread with the apple mixture spooned on top.
Makes 4 servings.
