Coney Islands (hot dogs w/meat sauce)
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1, 8 ounce can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
6 hot dogs/frankfurters
6 warm buns
In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and green pepper
until meat is browned. Drain.
Add tomato sauce, water, chili powder, paprika, salt,
and ground red pepper. Simmer 15 minutes.
In a saucepan, cover frankfurters with cold water;
bring to boiling. Simmer 5 minutes.
To serve, place franks in buns and top each with meat
mixture.
Makes 6 servings.
