Great in the winter time, served with chili or homemade soup.
bread - Beer CornBread Mix
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
2/3 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper, optional
4 teaspoons minced onion
... OR 4 teaspoons bacon bits
... OR 2 teaspoons of each
Stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
Place in an 18 ounce jar.
Place remaining ingredients on top of flour mixture, layering
if bottle is clear.
Makes 1.
Attach this to the Jar:
Beer CornBread
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease an 8 x 4 x 2 inch loaf pan.
Place jar contents in a medium mixing bowl.
Stir in one 12 ounce can or bottle of beer until Just combined.
Pour into loaf pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a
toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
Cover with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if necessary
to prevent over-browning.
Remove from oven and brush with butter, if desired.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove from pan.
Serve warm or cool completely on a wire rack.
Makes 1 loaf/16 servings.
