Layered Brownies (54)
for first layer:
3 cups quick oatmeal
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
18 Tablespoons butter, softened
for second layer:
2 1/4 cups granulated white sugar
2/4 cup butter, softened
3, 1 ounce piece unsweetened chocolate, melted
...and cooled
3 eggs
1 1/3 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
for frosting:
3, 1 ounce square unsweetened chocolate
6 Tablespoons butter
4 1/2 cups powdered confectioners sugar
3 Tablespoon vanilla
6 Tablespoons hot water
for first layer:
Mix oatmeal, flour, brown sugar and baking soda together.
Stir in butter. Pat into 3, 9x9x2 inch baking pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 7 to 10 minutes.
for second layer:
Combine sugar, butter and chocolate; add egg, beat well.
Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; add to
chocolate mixture, alternately with milk and vanilla.
Mix after each addition.
Spread over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 25
minutes. Cool and frost.
for frosting:
Heat chocolate and butter over low heat.
Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla.
Blend in water. Cool alittle and then spread over top
Cut into squares. Makes 54.
