LowCarb - Mashed Potato Substitute

She found this to be the closest to mashed potatoes, next to the real thing.
Lower in carbs than cauliflower, but the recipe did not give number of
carbs.

Mashed Potato Substitute
4 - 5 medium/large turnips
5 - 6 cups boiling water
4 ounces cream cheese
2 tablespoons butter (not margarine)
1 tablespoon heavy cream
dash parsley flakes
dash garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar or Mozzarella cheese, optional
Wash and peel turnips. Cut into 1/2 inch slices.
Cook in the water until tender, being careful not to over cook.
Pour into strainer and let drain well.
Using a hand masher, mash while in strainer, to remove as much water as
possible.
Place mashed turnips back into the pot.
Add the remaining ingredients.
Mix well and cook for 5 minutes over a medium heat.
