Mandarin Orange Muffins

List of Ingredients
for the muffins:
1 11oz. can mandarin oranges, drained, patted dry
1 1/2 c. flour
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/3 c. milk
for the topping:
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. melted butter
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a muffin pan.
for the muffin:
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, allspice and sugar together.
Cut in shortening.
Add drained orange segments and mix lightly. Set aside.
Combine egg and milk together and add all at once to flour mixture and mix until flour is moistened.
Spoon 3/4 full into each muffin cup.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from pan.
For the topping:
Mix the sugar with the cinnamon.
While the muffins are still hot, dip tops in melted butter, then roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.
