In the firehouse, you have to make plenty of food.
For smaller "families", it can be reduced. But, better
yet, make the recipe and freeze 1/2 for a quick meal
at a later time. Just omit topping with the cheese
until ready to bake! This is a good recipe to play with.
By all means, add more garlic, seasonings, sauce, and
cheese to suit your tastes.
Baked Ziti #5, w/beef+sausage
2 pounds ground beef (chuck)
1 pound loose sausage
2 large jars spaghetti sauce
1 1/2 box ziti pasta
1, 16 ounce container Ricotta cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
3 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Brown beef and sausage, drain. Add spaghetti sauce
and seasonings and simmer. Cook Ziti al dente to
package directions and drain. Mix pasta, sauce, and
ricotta cheese together until blended.
PLace 1/2 mixture into large baking pan, top with 1/2
of the mozzarella.
Add remaining mixture, top with remaining mozzarella
and parmesan cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven
uncovered for 1 hour. Serves 12.
Serve with salad and garlic bread.
