    Apple Cobbler #3

    for the topping:
    1 cup flour
    2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 cup butter
    1/4 cup milk
    1 large slightly beaten egg

    for the filling:
    1 cup granulated white sugar
    2 tablespoons flour
    1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    6 cups sliced apples

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
    for the topping:
    Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.
    Cut in the butter until resembles coarse crumbs.
    Combine the milk and egg. Add all at once to the flour mixture, stirring
    just until the dry ingredients are moistened. Set aside.

    for the filling:
    Combine the sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a saucepan.
    Add the apples and toss to thoroughly coat with the sugar mixture.
    Cook over a medium heat abut 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the
    apples are almost tender.
    Pour the hot filling into a 9 inch square or round baking dish.
    Immediately spoon the topping into 6 mounds on top of the hot filling.
    Bake for 20 - 25 minutes. Serve warm with light cream, whipped cream
    or vanilla ice cream.
    Makes 6 servings.
