Recipe Introduction
This is an old time treat....you may use the canned biscuit dough from the store, but homemade is the best.
List of Ingredients
1/2 c. cider vinegar
2 1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. dark molasses
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. flour
2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon or allspice
1/4 tsp. salt
biscuit doughRecipe
Flatten the biscuit dough a little and cut into strips.
Preheat the oven to 350. Need an 8x8x2" or similar baking dish.
Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
Use a medium saucepan to heat the vinegar, molasses and butter until the butter melts.
Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the warm mixture slowly, stirring to prevent any lumping and until the mixture thickens.
Pour half of the filling in the baking dish.
Cover with the biscuit strips.
Bake for 12 - 15 minutes, until the dough is nicely browned.
Then pour the remaining filling over the biscuit crust and set aside to let cool before serving.
