Recipe Introduction
An English recipe traditionally served with sausages. Very good served with all types of poultry too.
List of Ingredients
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 large onion, cut in half, then sliced
1 tbsp. white flour
1 1/2 c. chicken stock, (12oz.)
1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning
1/4 tsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. celery salt
1/3 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauceRecipe
Heat the oil in a medium size saucepan.
Add the onions.
Saute the onions until brown, approximately 10 minutes.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir together.
Continue to cook, constantly, for 2 - 3 minutes.
Gradually add the stock, poultry seasoning, parsley, celery salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce and stir.
Continue to cook until thickened.
Partially cover and cook for a about 10 - 15 more minutes so the flavors blend. Stir occasionally.
Makes 2 cups.
