    Craft - Cornstarch/Salt Dough

    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

This did not state the time for baking, but claytime
dough recipe says to bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour
or until brown. This one said use 170 degrees, so
start checking at 30 - 45 minutes on this one. This is
another good one to do with kids or the elderly.

    List of Ingredients

    Cornstarch/Salt Dough

    1 cup table salt
    1 cup cornstarch
    1/2 cup boiling water

Mix and stir together in a saucepan over low heat until
mixture becomes too stiff to stir. Let cool.
    Knead dough until smooth.
Knead in acrylic paint(s) to add color, until well mixed.
    (Or paint later, after dried.)
Use immediately or store in a plastic zipper bag until
ready to use. Lasts up to 2 weeks.
    Shape and model dough.
May write/paint name or initials and date on bottom,
and let dry before going further. This way there is no
question who did what and when it was made.
Let air dry or bake at 170 degrees F.
Paint as desired and let dry.
May also apply 2 light coats of a clear acrylic sealer,
letting dry between applications, if desired.

If forming shapes separately and adding to larger
    piece, glue is needed.
