List of Ingredients
Make Gift Bags
you will need:
2 cassette tape storage boxes, of same styling
a good quality wrapping paper,
...or decorative scrapbooking paper,
...or leftover wallpaper pieces,
...or anything sturdy or large enough to
...hold whatever it is you need the bag for
for mini bags:
First you must decide which way you want your
bag to have the opening, either portrait style or
horizontal style. Tape together.
Wrap the paper around the boxes so that it meets
in the middle of your portrait or horizontal side;
and tape or glue together, making sure to leave
at least 3/4 of an inch of paper at each open end
for folding.
Now, at 1 opening, carefully fold both short sides
in towards the center. Then carefully fold the long
sides together, just as if you are wrapping a gift.
Tape or glue closed.
You should now have just one end open.
Carefully remove the bag from the boxes.
Fold down 3/4's of an inch at the top and tape or
glue down to form the top rim of the bag
Fold the sides in just as you would see the brown
paper bags at the grocery stores.
Punch holes about 1/4 away from the fold on each
end of one side and then do the same with the other
side.
Cut 2 lengths of cotton cord, or colored lace or satin
ribbon. Thread from the inside, across the outside
and back into the middle. Tie a knot and you have one
handle. Do the same for the other side.
These bags may be used for favors, or whatever you
can imagine.
for small bags:
Use VHS, (video cassette, VCR) cassette boxes and
use the directions for the mini bags, but leave at least
a 1 1/8th of an inch for the paper covered tapes; or
leave 1 1/4 of an inch for the plasitc storage boxes.
You should cut a rectangle the size of the bottom of
the bag; put a little glue on the one side, and place it
glue side down into the bottom of the bag for stability.
for medium bags:
Use cereal boxes and follow directions for small bags,
increasing sizes where needed.
for large bags:
Use different shaped corrugated (brown cardboard to
most of us) paper boxes. Once again, follow directions
for small bags, and increasing sized where needed.Recipe
