Recipe Introduction

This pattern works up quickly and can be sized by using different threads with different crochet hooks. A hat usually takes just over one hour if using one color of yarn.

Rnd 1 - Chain 4, sl. st. in first chain to form loop.
Rnd 2 - Chain 3 (counts as first stitch), work 11 more dc in loop,
join.
Rnd 3 - Chain 3, work 1 dc in joining stitch with chain.
Work 2 dc in each stitch around. Join.
Rnd 4 - Chain 3. Work *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch*
continuing around. Join.
Rnd 5 - Chain 3. Work 1 dc in next stitch; work * 2 dc in next
stitch, 1 dc in each of next 2 dcs* around. Join.
Rnd 6 - Chain 3. Work 1 dc in each of next 2 stitches; work
*2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in each of next 3 dcs* around. Join.
Rnds 7 - 14 - Chain 3. Work 1 dc in each stitch around. Join.

If the hat is growing too large for the head, Rnd 6 can be 1 dc in
each stitch around instead of using the increase pattern.

Try using a 0 hook with baby yarn to make preemie hats,
a K hook with worsted yarn for adults
a G or H hook with worsted yarn for youngsters and teens
