    List of Ingredients

Do Large Scale Cross Stitch with Crochet Item

For anyone who is having a hard time seeing to
cross stitch, but still enjoys cross stitching.
Try this to make baby blankets with cute animal pictures.

Use a large afghan hook, create a plain afghan row
using single crochet stitch or half double crochet stitch,
the same number of stitches you have in your pattern.
(Multi-color yarns make really interesting backgrounds
    for your cross stitching).

Remember to leave 3 to 5 rows at the top and bottom
and about 5 stitches on either side of the pattern to
    allow for easier cross stitching.

You don't even have to wait until the afghan is done
to start the cross stitching! Do about 10 - 20 rows at
a time, cross stitch on those rows, and then do another
10 - 20 rows of the afghan stitches.

Each completed afghan stitch creates a box that works
    perfectly for cross stitching.

You can create wall hangings that look like tapestries
because you use 1 or 2 strands of regular knitting yarn
(depending on the size of the afghan hook) rather than
    embroidery floss.

For baby blankets, use sport weight to prevent the blanket
    from being too heavy.

Pictures created using this method are almost 3-D and
    VERY touchable.

If you use washable acrylic yarn, the creation will be
fully washable for years of beauty and enjoyment.

    *Another hint.
After the picture is completed, use black yarn and
backstitch the outline of the figure. This causes the
picture to literally pop out of the afghan.

Everyone will be really impressed by the pieces, and it
was easy, fun and caused NO eyestrain.
