pest control - fly termites
We discovered "fly in" termites in our house. I called my Pest control
and was informed that my termite contract only covered subterranean
termites. They recommended that I call either of 2 companies one in
Jacksonville. the other in Tampa. The process would involve putting a
tent over my 2 story 3000 sq ft house. digging a trench around it ,
covering the tent edges with dirt and filling it with poisonous gas.
This was too expensive for a widow on SS/ especially when I was told
they would not guarantee against return Fly in termites at all/
Solution:
I mixed 1 pound of borax to a gallon of water and sprayed the
infected areas. I had to do this a couple of times, but it has been a
month now and so sign of any more termite activity. Borax is non toxic
to humans or pets and can be found in the laundry section of most
grocery stores. The brand I found was 20 Mule Team Borax.
Hope this helps some one. It is much cheaper than tenting and poison
gas! I think I spent $20 on a sprayer and about $3 or $4 on the Borax.
