Broccoli + Onion Casserole
2, 10 ounce packages frozen cut broccoli, thawed,
...or 1 pound fresh
3 med. onions, peeled and quartered
or 2 cups frozen small whole onions
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
dash pepper
1 cup milk
1, 3 ounce package softened cream cheese
1/2 cup sharp American cheese, shredded
1 cup soft/fresh bread cubes
Cook frozen broccoli according to directions on package,
or cut fresh broccoli and cook in boiling salted water
for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain. Cook frozen or fresh onions
in boiling salted water until tender. Drain. In a saucepan

ubbly. Reduce heat and blend in cream cheese till smooth.
Place vegetables in a 1 1/2 quart casserole. Pour sauce
mixture over and mix lightly. Top with American cheese.
Melt the remaining butter and toss with the bread crumbs.
Sprinkle over the casserole. Bake at 350 degrees 40 to 45
minutes or until heated through. Serves 6.
