Cabbage + Celery Casserole
3 cups sliced celery
3 cups shredded white cabbage
1/2 teaspoon salt
...(use 1/2 for cooking both vegetables and
...the other 1/2 when mixing)
1, 10 3/4 ounce can cream of chicken soup
1/4 pound or 1 cup cheese, cubed
2 pounds buttered toasted bread crumbs or more
Cook celery in small amount of salt water for 10 minutes.
In a separate pan, cook cabbage in salt water 5 minutes.
Place 1/2 cabbage and celery in greased 1 1/2 quart
baking dish.
Sprinkle with a little of the salt and mix.
Spoon on 1/2 of undiluted soup.
Dot with 1/2 of cheese.
Add rest of vegetables on top.
Spoon on remaining soupd and dot with remaining cheese.
Sprinkle with the bread crumbs.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 25 minutes.
