Creamed Potatoes + Peas

2 - 3 lbs. potatoes (8 med.), scrubbed well
1 16oz. pkg. frozen tiny peas
2 c. heavy cream
1 c. milk
salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 tsp. mace, optional
1/2 tsp. sugar
5 tbsp. butter
Recipe
Cook potatoes in their skins until barely tender. Drain and let dry.
Peel and cut in 1/4" thick slices.
Cook peas until just tender, and thoroughly drain.
In a large saucepan, combine potatoes, cream, and milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and mace.
Sprinkle in the sugar and butter, stir gently, being carefuln not to break up the potatoes. Simmer 6 minutes. Add peas while the potatoes and sauce are still simmering. Cook for 5 minutes.
Taste for seasoning.
Serves 8.
