Rutabaga + Steak
1 1/2 pounds round steak, no fat, cut into cubes
butter
1 or 2 rutabagas, cubed
1 Tablespoon caraway seed
salt and ground black pepper
Melt a little butter in a frying pan.
Brown steak.
Then place steak and rutabaga in a cook pot.
Pour a little water in the frying pan and
scrape any pieces off bottom. Add to cook pot.
Now be sure to cover meat and rutabags in
cook pot with water.
Add caraway seed, salt and pepper.
Simmer 1 hour until cubes are soft.
Add water as needed.
Thicken with flour.
Serve over mashed potatoes.
