tomatoes. Makes a good side dish.

Scalloped Tomatoes #4, au gratin
4 slices toast, cut 3 slices into cubes
2 cans tomatoes
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 tablespoon brown sugar or molasses
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup grated cheese (your preference)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a casserole dish.
Mix tomatoes, onion, sugar, salt and pepper together.
Layer toast cubes, then the tomato mixture, another
layer of the cubes, and the tomato mixture again.
Place the 1 slice of toast on the top. Pour melted butter
over the toast slice. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake for
20 minutes. Makes 4 - 6 servings.
